The Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering (ILead) welcomes you to the fourth annual Summer Leadership Institute, a professional development opportunity designed to maximize learning in an interactive and collegial environment.

This year we are delivering Intercultural Leadership: Tools for teaching, learning and research in intercultural environments.

Description

Do you work in an intercultural environment with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences? Would you like to identify new tools and strategies to tap into the potential that diversity offers? Do you wish to succeed in working in complex, diverse teams and systems?

Join us in this interactive, engaging workshop to explore different values, communication styles, and perspectives. Deepen your awareness and strengthen your intercultural and personal leadership skills.

This intensive one-day workshop is intended for university and college faculty and staff working with diverse stakeholders: professors, research team leaders, instructors, student development professionals and administrators.

Registration fee for this professional development opportunity is $25.00. This covers the cost of facilitation, all workshop materials, morning refreshments, as well as catered lunch.

Tools, Techniques and Skills

To examine how culture and diversity influence approaches to teaching, learning, research and team work, this workshop will provide the following:

  1. A framework for contrasting your perspectives on teaching, learning, research and team work with those of your students, colleagues and stakeholders.
  2. Techniques to collaborate and communicate more effectively in your teams, departments, and classrooms.
  3. Skills for creating a more inclusive leadership style.
  4. A leadership methodology and organizing framework for dealing with differences.
